FAQ
Established in 1950 Concrete Developments have supplied concrete from our base in Great Barr for over 60 years. We mainly supply domestic extensions, new-build developments, and commercial/industrial refurbishments, but have also supplied large developments for major contractors such as Wimpey & Persimmon. We pride ourselves on providing a first class service at a competitive price. Our mixes are regularly independently tested to ensure they consistently achieve their designed strengths. We only use locally quarried virgin aggregates and British Portland Cement, this isn\'t the cheapest way of manufacturing concrete but certainly produces the best quality end product.
We also hire out Concrete Pumps for placing your concrete in those hard to reach places. We are able to pump concrete up to 70m away over, round or through obstacles with a minimum of fuss and mess, saving you time and money in labour costs.
We are always happy to provide help and advise on quantities and mix designs, please don\'t hesitate to give us a call on 0121 356 5575.

Make sure all those coming into contact with the product use appropriate safety equipment and protective footware/clothing. Concrete is an alkaline and abrasive product and can cause burns and skin disease.
Once Water is added to the mix at the plant, the chemical reaction commences and concrete starts to set between 1-2 hours from then. Setting times are dependent upon local weather conditions and the type of concrete ordered.
The concrete will require protective curing to prevent problems such as cracking, typically using a spray-on membrane or covering with plastic sheeting as soon as possible after placing.
There is no easy answer to this, there are so many variables. As a rule of thumb the stronger the concrete mix is the quicker it will set, however you must be aware that concrete will not reach it’s full designed strength for 28 days. We would recommend C35 or C40 for fixing structural steelwork to, but you should take advise from a structural engineer.
